History of deadly earthquakes
Earthquakes have claimed hundreds of thousands of lives in the last 100 years and improvements in technology have only slightly reduced the death toll.
过去的一百年里，地震一次又一次夺取无数人的生命。而科技的进步，却只能够减少一点点死亡人数。
12 May 2008:
Up to 12,000 people are killed and as many as 26,000 injured by an earthquake in just one county in China’s south-western Sichuan province, state media say.
The tremor, measuring 7.8, hit 92km (57 miles) from the provincial capital Chengdu during the early afternoon.

15 August 2007:
