Egyptian president has appeared for calm after 5 people died in clashes between Christians and Muslims in a town north of Caro. Witnesses say an argument between men on the street escalated into a gun battle, in which 4 Christians and 1 Muslim died. 

The 166th Grand National, the highlight of Britain’s Racing calendar has been won by a 66 to 1 outsider, Auroras Encore. The horse was ridden by the jockey who’d never take part in this race before. 17 of the 40 runners finished the course which was modified to make the fences safer.
