President Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have reaffirmed the closeness of their alliance on Mr. Obama’s first visit to Israel. At the joint news conference in Jerusalem president Obama said the security of Israel was non-negotiable. He also said the U.S. will do what is necessary to stop Iran acquiring nuclear weapons. Mr. Netanyahu said any measures should be backed up by a clear and credible military option.  

Banks in Cyprus to stay closed until at least next Tuesday as the government struggles to avoid a financial collapse. Officials are saying that a so called plan B for the bailout is ready and will be presented to party leaders on Thursday. 

And the U.K. has moved closer to becoming the first country to allow the creation of babies from three people, a new IVF technique.
