Demonstrators have celebrated outside the Cypriot Parliament after MPs rejected the controversial tax on savers’ bank deposits, which almost throw the international rescue plan into turmoil. The country’s banks remain closed. 

Wave of bombings in Iraq capital Baghdad have claimed the lives of more than 50 people. Over the course of 2 hours, security targets were attacked along the restaurant in the bus stop, in mainly Shiite areas of the city. 

An international concern over a report said that chemical weapons have been used in Syria. The government and the rebel forces are blaming each other for the attack near Aleppo, which the state news agency says kills 25 people. 

And the Pope celebrated his inaugural mass in front of tens of thousands in St. Peter Square. During his ceremony he said it is his duty to care for all humanity, especially the weakest and the poorest.
