Actually, there are two parts of the “He Ping Action”, one is keeping the fastest and safest transfer of the valuable top-secret documents to Beijing brought by Chen Quan (which will not mention in this play) and the other is to attract all the attention of the enemy spies to this fake escort line. Then the enemy would make wrong judgments and their main energy will be put on this line so that the first part of this plan could be realized. Therefore, Lu Chao and his members were actually carrying out a “suicide” task; they have to be ready of sacrificing themselves to safeguard this plan. To sacrificing himself was not that hard for Lu Chao, but the most difficult thing was he had to bring his comrades to the “Death Traps” unmercifully, to put their lives at danger for the un-existent documents! The cruelest lied in that nobody else knew this except himself. He could only lie to his comrades till the end of this task. During the journey, he must bring death to himself and every member of this team at times, and look helplessly the “brave sacrifice” of them because of his “constant mistakes”. The cruelty of this task was unprecedented, but Lu Chao determined in his heart that under the condition of successful fulfillment of this task, he would try to avoid the sacrificing of his comrades and bring back everyone alive. Yet this task required him to put this intention behind the “mistakes” and “stupidities” therefore, the vise chef of this section, Yang Yumei, who adored him firstly, clashed with him bitterly and continually. The deep ties of comradeship turned to be suspect and resentment, at last Yang Yumei even took out her gun, declaring with tears in eyes to execute him under the principle of “dealing with the traitors and spies in WAR temporary”;The members of this team have established deep relationship that could commit their lives. Shao Yunlai had saved him for several times, but Lu Chao was so “cold-blooded” and “unreasonable” as to insist his staying at the place, waiting for death. All the members of this team had great hatred and anger to Lu Chao, they would “eat him alive”. At the same time, in order to shield the team, Wang Er Niu was severely hurt and caught by the enemies. Lu Chao ordered to save him when he knew absolutely there is a trap; this represented his deep conflicting and miserable. With super wisdom he finally rescued Wang Er Niu and settled him down in hospital, but this also let the enemy suspect the reality of this task. It is very reckless since the fulfillment of this critical task is much more important than rescuing one member. The task could be fail then, but Lu Chao turned back the irreversible trend with his wisdom and bravery. Our team again led enemies by their noses. One could not stop sighing for all this endures. He was tortured by suspicion, misunderstanding, dignity, responsibility, humanity, friendship and love. He endured humiliation in order to carry out this important task with unbearable pressure and pains. Time and time he put his team under desperate situation and finally worked out a bloody road that led to the final success. He fulfilled this seemly impossible mission with least casualties with superhuman courage and wisdom, with the loyalty and faith of a pure communist. He was even hated when he finally sacrificed himself, and he was not forgivable for his constant mistakes. The task of “escort the father and daughter and the important documents” was not successful at all. Chen Quan died, documents were destroyed, and all this showed the success of enemy side’s spies. Hence, he completed his tragically heroic historical mission. However, when the truth came out, when the commander told everything to Yang Yumei who came to reflect "Lu Chao’s various malpractice and unforgivable mistakes" we all shocked together with Yang Yumei, Until then, we could again recognize and understand Lu Chao, his helpless, his sorrow, his pain, his lonely, and his strong, selfless and fearless, and by all this in a great.
Yang Yumei:Female, 26 years old,a confidential staff of one department of the PLA. Her parents are martyr. She was brought up at the Child Care Center in Yan’an. She had strict demands on herself, and hated injustice like poison. She was beautiful and kind. But actually she had a tough character; she would never yield when it was a matter of principle. She was a strong and brave revolutionary. She was straight-forward, responsible and not good at controlling her emotions. It seemed that she was an “Iron woman”. She treated work seriously and stuck to principle, yet sometimes without flexibility; and she was regarded as the “live map” because could remember in heart the landforms, roads, bridges, rivers of the combat areas. Comrades named her “machine woman” secretly without any bad intentions. She and Lu Chao had executed twice the investigation tasks on the enemy. They belonged to the same level, and the similar experiences, but Lu Chao was two years later joining the army. So Yang Yumei was not convinced why the two tasks’ commander was Lu Chao. She was deeply impressed by Lu Chao’s unflappable, calm and uncommon wisdom. Yet she did not feel good at his arrogance and indifference. She had mixed feeings towards Lu Chao. Actually she did not know that Lu Chao had adored her for a long time. He just would not like to show his weakness before Yang Yumei, because Yang wanted to excel in every aspect. He deliberately made out such gesture as of commanding, arrogance and indifferent. At that time, relations between two genders were regarded very serious. Except these two tasks, Lu Chao and Yang Yumeni did not have a communication privately upon their emotions. Before this very task of escort, a senior officer’s wife planned to make a match of them, and she specially asked Yang Yumei, what about her opinion towards Lu Chao. As luck would have it, Lu Chao chose her as a team member of this task. So the planned “matching” was postponed. But Yang Yumei thought it was not bad as she could understand Lu Chao more during the escort, and would help on her final decision. Unexpectedly, Lu Chao was against his vise captain here and there. Moreover, he should have behaved so hesitantly and stupidly when the whole team was in danger. His wrong decisions made the team always exposed in risky situation; the members constantly got injured and even died. She could not understand why Lu Chao can leave an injured member when he can save him to the hands of enemy. This comrade sacrificed at last. She suspected Lu Chao on his commanding ability, personality and revolutionary belief. Her adore, trust, and love to Lu Chao was completely destroyed at this time. With her normal thinking method and wise revolutionary struggle principle, she took out her gun and wanted to execute him under the principle of “dealing with the traitors and spies in WAR temporary”. If it weren’t for a more experienced member, Zhao Shishen, Yang would be a true, unforgivable historical sinner. Zhao had more experiences of dealing complicated things during complicated situation and cooled the fires between Lu and Yang. Here as a soldier, a frank and selfless commander who wanted to turn the tide in such an imminent peril, she had done very well. And without courage and faith, nobody could have such behavior. But she was in a complicated, dislocated situation; she did not know the top secret of this task. So she had the same tragic meaning as that of Lu Chao. The difference lied in that, the more strongly, righter, excel of her character, principle and commanding, the more destructive she would to the true task. Because she was the vise captain, she could confront with Lu Chao, and she could disobey his orders. She commanded the battle according to her “absolutely right” method. So her destroying was very huge, which she could not image at all. Therefore, the “reversed” tragic effects are more dense and heroic. After Lu Chao’s sacrifice, she reflected his leadership negligence, mistakes and even crimes, she suddenly knew the truth. She was shocked at the moment. All the things Lu Chao had done, paid and borne. The deep sad in his eyes, the incomprehensible anger and deep emotion which she could not understand before penetrated her. Also at this moment, this character halted, - a great hero standing in front of her like a giant - she shed tears, for Lu Chao and herself. She was lamentable and regrettable, but she was not insignificant. It could say that she was like Lu Chao, standing in front us like a giant. Comparing with Lu Chao’s heroism, what she had done was also very great; she was a hero from every aspect. In this play, except the main line of struggling with the enemy, all the big feelings of emotions and justices that Lu Chao conveyed were highlighted by Yang Yumei in many aspects. The setting of her position in this team (vise captain) and the emotional entanglements between her and Lu Chao were used to achieve this purpose. She played a vital and leading role for internal conflicts. The key performance of this play, “comradeship” –the deep sorrow caused by putting the comrades into death for the interests of party and country- was through Yang Yumei’s reaction and sublimation. Although other team members also undertook the task, they were just auxiliary and staged. (On the other hand, the members’ great was foiled by Yang Yumei and Lu Chao from two aspects of justice). Yang Yumei’s charm was settled in the firmness of finishing work, in the indomitable struggle with the “wrong commanding” of Lu Chao, in the overcoming of her adore to Lu Chao, and in hopeless struggle of saving her comrades even resolutely to sacrificing herself. Her dazzling glory was shown when she new the truth after this task. Her “stupidity”, “naïve”, “self-righteousness” and “stubbornness” and all these that hurt Lu Chao, have been imprinted in the audience’s heart together with her surging tears. The more overdo of her previous behavior, the more impressing she would be in audience’s mind. And later, in calm speculation, her image as a hero will be restored, and she would be cherished together with Lu Chao forever.
Zhao Shisheng: Male, 26 years old, joined the army as a scout, and then a company commander of one department of the PLA. He practiced Kongfu from youth, and was very good at fighting. He also understood a little about medicine. As our excellent grassroots commander he could not only combat fiercely, but also have great capability in organization and leading. In this play, he played an important balancing role between in Lu Chao and Yang Yumei. He was hale, forthright, brave and clever. He was born to a poor family and was sold by his parents with 10 L millets. He did not who were his parents and even where he came from. During this task, he became the big brother, another core of the team except captain Lu Chao and vise captain Yang Yumei. Other comrades like to tale with him, especially when they had troubles. If the members had doubts, they’d rather to communicate with Zhao Shisheng. Therefore, he became the bridge of the members and the commanders. Just like Yang Yumei and other members, he suspected Lu Chao’s capability of commanding and decision making. But as a grassroots commander, his reaction was more cautious than those who had not fought in real combat fields. He would analyze and judge at the position of a commander. And he understood that iron discipline and unconditional obeying to orders were the magic keys to success in emergent time especially perilous period. So when Yang Yumei proposed “forcing Lu Chao to give out the commanding authority” and let Zhao Shisheng replaced him as the captain, he definitely refused, and stood by the side of Lu Chao. At the moment of death or live, when Yang Yumei wanted to shoot Lu Chao, Zhao Shisheng again supported Lu Chao. This was not because that he knew the truth, nor his insight was acuter, but he had faith, the faith in his commander. So it was not hard to see why Lu Chao had put the task’s “target”-Chen Quan and his daughter and the docuemtn to Zhao’s protection directly. Without the permission of Lu Chao, he could leave one step from his “target”. He did not fail this trust, and several times won the “target” back from kill zone with his superb skill, especially his agile mind. Perhaps only Zhao could understand Lu Chao a little. And only Zhao could realize that there must be some reasons for Lu Chao “constant mistakes” and even “deathly mistakes”. He could have guessed the truth of this task, but could not confirm. Yet he gave the most needed support to Lu Chao. He hinted Lu Chao for several times that if somebody needed to sacrifice, let he did. Because he could earn more lives from the enemy so that to let his comrades get the chances of living. His understanding and support to Lu Chao; his persuasion to Yang Yumei and his cares to the comrades could be reflected in many minor aspects, and this also reflected his own personality and morality. In the most critical moment, he played the as the leverage to success. It was no exaggeration to say that this team was rescued by his firmness and calmness. It was not possible to finish the task without his critical role at the critical moments. As an excellent man, he safeguarded the safety of Chen Quan and his daughter, Chen Peiyun. Certainly Chen Peiyun would pay much attention to him. Moreover, he rescued her several times in perilous situation, it was reasonable that the girl was attracted by his bravery and witty. But he did not have any thoughts that were beyond his duty. Although he also showed intentionally his feelings in treating with Chen Peiyun, he controlled his feelings well. That was not so easy. And Chen Peiyun could not confirm whether Zhao also loved her. But she believed firmly that the enemy, even the slyest one, could not hurt a hair of her as long as Zhao accompanied her. Zhao Achieved it. It was a big problem for Zhao to deal with Chen Peiyun in personal relationship. It was as focus point of this play on how to choose between the iron discipline, duty and personal emotions. He impressed Chen and the audience with his behaviors. The audience guessed their final ending with sympathy and praise. They even expected that Zhao and Chen could become husband and wife at last. But the audience could only get a hint they might be together at the end of the play. What we wanted to leave for audience was not the end result of his love, but the personality and character as a soldier.
Li Tie:Male, 25 years old, a soldier of PLA. He was always indifferent, unsmiling, and expressionless. This was related to his born background. He was born to a poor mason family, and good at fly knife. His father thought that Iron was harder than Stone. So he was named “Li Tie (iron)”. He was caught by the Kuomintang, forced him to be a soldier when he was 22. Two years ago, he helped Lu Chao in a task, and the latter led him to join the PLA. Later, his wife was killed by Kuomintang. This became his bitterness pains. He wrote the date of his wife death in a small booklet in order to remember his wife and this hatred. But it caused the misunderstanding of other members. And because he had attended Kuomintang, he had been suspected by some comrades, especially when the team was always ambushed and put into deadly situation, nearly all guessed he was the traitor. For this he just regarded the things never happened, he never explained. He silently endured the suspicions eye distrust of his comrades. He carried out every order from Lu Chao earnest and steadily, no matter in what kind of hardship; he did not shrink one step. He had unswerving faith. He almost did not speak in the play, even his comrade aimed at his head; he did not explain one word for himself. He trusted Lu Chao just as Lu Chao trusted him. Li Tie returned this trust with his action. He was always silent at critical moment, but supported and protected Lu Chao with iron hardness. From him, we could see the traditional merit of Chinese people “a gentleman is ready to die for his bosom friend”. In the heart of this iron-like and cold man, there are fire enthusiasm and soft feelings. He respected Lu Chao so deeply just because he had led him to a bright road, and let him live as a “human”. He received the shortest time of communism education, and joined the army latest. But he behaved most firmly. He was ready to do anything even sacrifice upon the absolute obey and trust to Lu Chao. Therefore, his behaviors could not simply been attributed to consciousness. He had a complex of inferiority, and the expression mode was coldness, arrogance and self-isolation. He never showed his feelings; all were hidden at his bottom heart. Until at the end of his life, he did not let Lu Chao down, and smiled, only once. He was not comprehended by others and people would not trust him. He undertook the task of suspenseful atmosphere building in this play; it was the indispensible condition of big suspending factor. The complex and delicate relationship between him and other characters played a driven role to the plot. His silence and his charm of no publishing at all had made him the most extraordinary one among all the heros.
Chen Quan:Male, above 50 years old, was born to a small intellectual family. He was a colonel, the section chef of Kuomintang’s secret service department. He joined into old democratic revolution, following sun yat-sen revolutionary ideals at early ages. He resolved to save the country and people. But as time goes on he disappointed at Kuomintang, especially the corruption and degeneration made him completely lose confidence in Kuomintang regime. After defeating by Communist, and our secret workers’ patient and detailed work, he finally made his mind to discard the darkness and chase for bright. In order to atone and his sincerity, he stole top-secret documents of the secret service department and defense department of Kuomintang. He gone for the mainland with the help of our comrades, in the name of “visit” organized by us. He made his decision after thorough consideration. He thought that during his lifetime, he had made two correct decisions. One was renouncing his pens and joining the “Democratic” revolution, leading by sun yat-sen; another was this time’s discarding Kuomintang. In other times, he thought he had committed a lot of sins. In order to justify himself, and also come clean to his descendants, his mother land and the people, he finally decided to choose this bright road. But he knew that it could not be smooth, the secret service agencies and spies would kill him by hook or by crook. So before this action, he and our secret workers, and through whom, the relevant departments have held detailed discussion and planning, finally developed a set of relatively safe and practical scheme. For Chen Quan, his own life was not that important, he thought it was worthy for him to sacrifice if he could send the top secret documents stolen from Kuomintang completely and safely to the Communist. In order to ensure the absolute safety of the document and Chen Quan, intelligence agency of our army adopted the idea of “slipping away by casting off a cloak”. That was to say, the person and documents were separated, one in brightness and one in darkness. We used brightness to attract enemy and make sure the documents could be delivered safely in secret. The so called “slipping away by casting off a cloak” means documents slipping away from people. And with our active coordination, we made the enemy believe there was a “supreme secret” by forming this secret escort team and spreading rumors that in order to ensure his life, Chen Quan would not separate with the documents, and he would hand them to our top leaders directly to be promised with amnesty, etc. This method of using false information to induce enemy into wrong judgment was exactly the same as American and Britain army adopted before Normandy Landing, which included the “Cruel” and “Extreme Heartless” contents of sacrificing own comrades. Only a few senior leaders in our army, Lu Chao and Chen Quan knew the truth of this plan, it’s one of the most secret in our army’s intelligence history. Chen Quan understood that in order to ensure the success of this plan, many people would sacrifice their lives, including his own. He had prepared well, and decided to show his willingness of this choice by his own life. The only pity he had was for his daughter, Chen Peiyun. In order to emphasize the credibility that the documents were brought and delivered by him, he had to bring together his daughter. The fact that because his wife died young, he treated his daughter as lifeblood, and they depended on each other, which Spies of Kuomintang was familiar, would hint that the documents absolutely could not separate with them. His “betray” had put his daughter into the brink of death, and Kuomintang would not let his daughter live. Bring along his daughter could not only lead the enemy make wrong judgment, but also put her in the protection of communists, and this would probably give her a gleam hope of survival. This was his best choice, and the only choice. Of course, Chen Peiyun did not know any secrets, there were treated as “baits”. She only knew simply that her father was bringing important documents to go for Communist and being protected by their people all the way to Beijing. Although Chen Quan was not a soul character in this play, he was nor just a decoration. Actually he carried a very important spiritual connotation, which is “conscience”. Though he stood at the justice side at the beginning of this play, and was prepared to die, as a “protégé”, and brought along with “Non-existent top secret documents”, he saw those young people die for him one by one. Chen Quan felt deeply guilty seeing Lu Chao’s struggling in grieve for keeping this secret, and watching the injury and death of his comrades; Also seeing Lu Chao’s confrontation with his teammates, Lu Chao being suspected, misunderstood, and even in the danger situation of being killed by his own member. This typical feeling of guilty, just like that of Lu Chao was torturing them. But Chen Quan suffered more, because before this “betray”, he was a crime to Communist Party, those communists and revolutionary people who he had killed might be the parents or brothers and sisters of these young people, who were going through fire and water, and even sacrificing their own lives to protect him! He was reflecting and weeping in heart, and what’s more, he began to consider a new choice, which was a new-high level than that of going for this bright road, discarding the dark one. He was changing from passive to active, and finally, at the most critical moment, he chose death bravely, initiatively and voluntarily. He let those bastards in Taiwan assured with his own death and the destruction of documents; also he fulfilled his willing of less sacrificing of our team members. He achieved the sublimation from “conscience” to “faith” and became a unique image of heroes in this play. His paternal love, his helpless in this special situation of secrecy together the plots of his atonement, his being impressed, moved and inspired by our team members and the final sublimation, all made him colorful for this specific figure, and thus unique charming for audience.
The following characters did not undertake main tasks in this play, so their introductions were simple.
Shao Yunlai: Male, 22 years old, a heroic scout of a PLA, was famous of his agility, good at climbing, especially in running with astounding speed. He had a nickname “leopard” He was cheerful, humorous and the most talkative in this team. He loved laughing and kidding. He had a great popularity and was loved by everyone. He had forged a deep friendship with the strongman Wang Erniu. He in repeatedly made his exploits during the task. He had special relationship with Lu Chao and saved him twice. Although they were commander and soldier, they have a friendship of live and death. In order to lure the enemy into the bait, he accepted the order from Lu Chao to stay in the task of death, and finally heroically sacrificed himself
Wang Erniu:Male, 22 years old, a soldier of PLA, he worked for message delivering and code interpreting. He was honest, straight-forward and strong. Also he had the special ability to interpret code, but he was irritable and excitable. In this play he was responsible for the communication between Captain Lu Chao and the headquarter. Thus, he was the earliest person to realize there are other tasks beyond this very task. Because he did not know the truth, he played very badly when Lu Chao and Yang Yumei conflicted. Although he worked closely according to the discipline and principle of the party, he subjectively became the unstable factor of the team during one period. Finally in order to shield the retreat of team, he was seriously injured and caught by the enemy. He was used as “bait", but Lu Chao rescued him when he knew clearly it was a trap. Lu Chao saved him from the enemy’s hands with wisdom. Later, both his legs were truncated.
He Shun: Male, 20 years old, the soldier of PLA, herding sheep when he was young, he practiced throwing stones at mountains during that time. He was pure and could throw stones one hundred percent to the target within a certain distance. So he could defeat enemy by surprise. His hobby was to sing, this was also raised up during his youth, when he herded the sheep. He would sing when he was lonely, and brought happy to every member of the team during his task in the subsection. He could solve the feeding problem of the team using his stone-throwing skill and was thus loved by every member. Later, he was blind.
Chen Peiyun:Female, 22 years old, the daughter of Chen Quan. She lost her mother from child, and lived with her father. She once studied in a university of Beiping, and later escaped to Taiwan with her father, quit her studying. She had received some advanced ideas, and was discontent towards the brutal, corrupted and dark regime of the Kuomintang. She supported her father’s choice of giving up the dark Kuomintang and going for the bright mainland. Although been pampered she was still kind and pure. She knew little about her father’s mission. Seeing the honorable and lovely soldiers of PLA injured and died one by one, she was strongly dissatisfied by her father’s "selfish" and "regiment". Finally she stood up to “struggle” with her father. She gradually became strong, and her view on world and life also been changed step by step. At last she understood the truth that China’s hope lied in the “Chinese Communist Party”. She was deeply attracted by Zhao Shisheng’s charms during the protection and salvation he gave her. Meanwhile, in this team, everyone’s life hanged on a thin thread. And it was the physiological and psychological instinct for a simple, pure girl, who was lonely and frightened, to close to a man, who was revered by her, and who protected her. Except her father, Zhao became the only person to whom she could tell her feelings. She exposed her emotion to Zhao, and because the firm sense of safety and trust that Zhao offered to her, she finally fell in love with him. Probably it was not a good thing for them, because they had entirely different family background and working experiences, but trust and faith overcome everything. For a woman, a sentimental and fragile woman, this is her inevitable choice under such special circumstances. Those concepts of "revolution", "doctrine", and even “class” ought to become insignificant and pale for her. She didn’t have a complex mood as his father, nor was she as heroic as the warriors in this team. But she was conducting a sharp change, the most important one, of her whole life. At the end of this play, when she appeared together with Zhao Shisheng, in reminisce of his father and these martyrs of PLA, who sacrificed their lives during this task, audience could imply that she finally was together with Zhao. But it was only a hint. We really wished that she could safe and find her true happiness.
Below were Brief Introductions of the Negative Characters in this Play.
Daylight:Male, about 40 years old, he was a chief spy who had hidden in our army. He could contact the most important secrets in one aspect of our army, and also control a huge net of Kuomintang spies. He was the main executor of the action “Kua Fu 50”. Kua Fu was a legend character in ancient Chinese, who run after the sun until death. He was experienced, intelligent and rigorous. He did very well in camouflage, self-protection. He had long-term vision than his counterparts in Taiwan and other spies, thus he seemed quite conservative and pedantic for Taiwan authority. His IQ was very high and was the main rival of our "He Ping Action". He appeared often in this play, but until the last moment could we know his true identity. This sudden enlightenment gave audience boundless aftertaste.
Scorpion: Male, around 35 years old, as mainstay spy, he hidden in the mainland to carry out the “snake hunting plan”. He was arrogance, cunning and ruthless. He was more aggressive than Daylight, and he always wanted to show off. But this did not mean that he was stupid, instead he was more insidious than Daylight. He was too obsessed into his own intelligence. And he was over-confident and arrogant. Thus he was sure to be killed. Actually, his failure did not lie in his rivals standing for the justice, nor he was much more intelligent and courageous, but in his personal weakness. If he could consider seriously the opinions and judgments of Daylight, if he could combat with Daylight together without so many rivalries, if he could turn out to be modest, cautious, and calm instead of arrogant and eager, this story might be quite different. Thus, his true rival was himself.
Wind: Male, 30s, he was also a mainstay spy of the secret service of Kuomintang. He was good at assassinating. He was erratic, swift and crafty. Like the wind, he did not have any colors.
Thunder:Male, 30s, another mainstay spy of Kuomintang, tough and cold, he was good at bombing and combating.
Fog: Male, 30s, mainstay spy of Kuomintang’s secret service department, he was very cold-blooded, and could use any weapons, any means to kill. He was very good at disguising, and could appear every time with a different face. Even his partners, “Wind” and “Thunder” could not identify him from time to time. He gave the audience with a mysterious terror. But finally when was killed, we unexpectedly found out that he was a handsome, gentle and frail-looking scholar.
Outline of this Play
40 Episodes TV Play Series “Top Secret 1950” was regarded as the Chinese version of “Garrison’s Gorillas”. It was a well prepared, heroic theme play, consecrated to the 60 years’ anniversary of the People’s Republic of China. It was a modern ode calling for heroism and patriotism.
The story happened at 1950s, the beginning of the People’s Republic of China. The smoke of gunpowder of The Liberation War was still hanging over China. The senior staff of one military region suddenly received an urgent order of selecting and organizing a special team with experienced and skilled heroes, to carry out a top secret mission. The task was to sneak secretly into the complicated area of Wuzhou and Xijiang of Guang Xi Province, to meet a senior staff of the Secret service department, running from Kuomintang, and to escort the important confidential documents he had brought, which concerned the safety of Communist Party and state of this new founded China, at any costs, to Beijing.
This team was entrusted with this mission at such a critical moment, and seven members, including Lu Chao, the captain, were all bravery and experienced. Every time they were fighting under extremely horrifying and cruel circumstances. But each of the members could fight as ten, and they protected closely this senior surrendered staff of Kuomintang with fearless heroic spirit. At the same time, the team was exposed in an extraordinary way before the enemy; they sacrificed their lives for the party, the new country and its people, under an extremely unequal condition. They used their own bodies to gear the fierce bullets, to escort this senior officer of Kuomintang, who had killed many communist members. During this journey, the team not only had gone through constant traps, but also the internal suspicion and severe psychological struggle. This was a special and top secret mission; even the vise captain of the team did not know the actual task. Only their captain, Lu Chao knew the truth. Facing his comrades, Lu Chao could not tell why he had the team exposed to enemy deliberately, and could only helplessly see them threatened by death during repeatedly exposures. Living together with the team during dozen days, the senior intelligence staff of Kuomintang and his daughter had been deeply moved and finally impressed by the nobility of communists, and by their absolute faith to the people, the country and their ideal. The top secret documents were finally delivered safely and this team fulfilled their task. They have eulogized a memorable hero spectrum; they have written a brilliant, justice, inspiring and magnificent red epic!
