A special interrogation team is waiting to question the teenager suspected for the bomb attacks on the Boston Marathon. Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is under armed guarding in hospital while his condition is described as serious but stable. Police captured him following a gun fight after he was found hiding in a boat in a sub urban garden. Much of Boston was locked during the search after his older brother was killed 24 hours earlier in a shoot-out with police. 

A powerful earthquake has hit the south-western Chinese province of Sichuan. Rescue teams have been trying to find survivors in collapsed buildings and more than a hundred and fifty people have been killed and over five thousand have been injured. 

And Italy’s 87-year old president Giorgio Napolitano has been re-elected to serve another 7 years term.
